Surrounded by an infinite stretch of white sand and clear water, lies the idyllic paradise haven known as Barra Beach Club. Barra - Inhambane is one of the only few north-facing beaches in Mozambique thus allowing for protected calm waters and squeaky clean coconut lined beaches. Previously one of the first beach cottages in Barra, it was creatively converted in 2010 into the romantic, traditional yet chic boutique hotel of today. We invite you to experience Mozambique at it’s finest at Barra's most exclusive and luxurious hidden gem.

Key features

Location

  • Barra Beach is located in Inhambane province, 30kms away from Inhambane town.
  • It is the first and most Southern beach destination, North of Maputo that is accessible by tar road, water and air. (Daily flights from Maputo and Johannesburg, RSA).
  • Barra Beach and its surroundings are unique to any other part of Mozambique due to its large natural bay, North-facing beach and accessible estuary. A powerful combination that has been under-utilized, allowing the opportuntiy for one to seize the moment and produce Mozambique’s first adventure tourist capital.

Barra Beach Site

  • The site at Barra Beach forms part of two neighbouring pieces of land know as Barra Reef and Barra Beach Club, 7ha and 0,55ha respectively.
  • Combined they form +/- 600m of beach frontal on the North-side and mangrove frontal behind on the South-side with +/- 125m side perimeters.
  • Currently the land hosts a 12 room boutique hotel (Barra Beach Club) and a beach restaurant (Aqua de Coco, an MSC excursion activity).
  • The site has been approved by municipality and environmental for further development of a resort and/or private villas.
  • Civil services include 3 phase electricty supplied by municipality. A backup up generator is required. Water is supplied by municipality or self-owned bore holes. Sewage requires septic tanks.

Market anaylsis

  • This region has fast become renowned as an actioned packed family destination along with couples looking for a romantic getaway.
  • Clients range, throughout the year, from a healthy local market (majority from Maputo) extending to South Africans and with an ever increasing international market.
  • Activites range includes: scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, horse riding, sailing tours, city tours, island tours, quad biking, night life.
  • There are several lodges situated over a 30km radius with only a handful more than 3 star standards. No holiday resorts have been developed.

Opportunites

  • With an international and powerful presence, there is plenty that can be achieved with the willing support of the government.
  • A tender for a Casino is going out for this region, they will select based on an expression of interest and casino knowledge backgroud. A 99,9% chance that you will secure it. The only casino in over 500kms (Biera and Maputo next closest) putting you on the map.
  • The possibilty of packages that swop MSC passengers with Barra Beach guests on a turn around basis to create a new niche holiday destination market.
  • The possibity of developing a jetty off Barra Beach lagoon to ensure 100% beach launches and safety. The use of 70 man tender boats can work in conjunction with 70 man vehicles and modified trailers to easily transport passengers to and from the site using the same turn around time frame with no delays.
  • The lagoon and jetty opens up a whole new dimension allowing unventured activities to take the market and create Mozambique’s adventure capital.
  • The weather allows for this resort to operate all year around and not just seasonal as the climate and sea are tropical throughout. Winter bringing flat waters and warm seas.
