HISTORY

The wine estate is located 45 kilometers northwest of Lisbon, at Santo Estevão and Triana parish, the so-called "Alto Concelho de Alenquer" next to the place of Pancas. The lands of Alenquer extend between the Serra de Montejunto and the flatlands of the right bank of the Tagus river, unfolding in a landscape of mountains, hills, valleys and plains. The property has about 50 hectares of vineyards. Currently the red varieties planted in this property are Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Merlot, Castelão, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Petit Verdot and Malbec. As for the white grapes these are Arinto, Chardonnay and Vital.

Gilberto Marques- Enólogo residente - Quinta de Pancas

" The tradition combined with innovation is the source of the excellent wines of our estate."

The predominant soils are calcareous, and these differ in their origin - among the interstratified compact limestone and calcareous sandstones fine. That distinction is mainly associated with the elevation of plots (between 50 m and 240 m) and slope of the same, reflecting on the soil texture: clay in the lower areas, and frank in the highest parts and more slope. While the depth is very variable, has an excellent water retention capacity sufficient for the vegetative development of the vine.
