Facilities
Phalaborwa (translated to English as better than the south; phala means better than and borwa means south) is a town in the Mopani District Municipality, Limpopo province, South Africa. It is located near the confluence of the Ga-Selati River and the Olifants, halfway up along the western border of the Kruger National Park in the Lowveld.
Name
The name "Ba-Phalaborwa", given to the area by the Sotho tribes who moved here from the south, means "better than the south". The Sotho mined and smelted copper and iron ore here as far back as 400 AD. Masorini, near Phalaborwa gate, is a reconstructed Ba-Phalaborwa hill village, with huts, grain storage areas, and an iron-smelting site.
Mining
Phalaborwa began as a mining town and still is home to Palabora Mining. The massive open-pit mine, nearly 2,000 metres across, is Africa's widest manmade hole.
Tourism
Tourism and wildlife play a dominant role in the life of this town. It is the only town in South Africa that borders the Kruger National Park, the Mozambiquan border is only two hours drive away. Lately, with the incorporation of various private game reserves into the conservancy area, Phalaborwa is all but enclaved by nature conservancies. The Hans Merensky Golf Estate is situated on the outskirts of the town.
Nearby natural attractions are Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels, God's Window and Bourke's Luck Potholes; the Tzaneen fruit farms and Hoedspruit game farms can all be visited within a day.
Transport
Air
Phalaborwa Airport is a commercial airport serving the town.
Description of the business and property for sale
The business and property we would like to present to you today have been rated as a 4 Star Lodge.
Located perfectly in Phalaborwa Centre, just 7kms’s from the Kruger National Park gate, home to most tourists that visit South Africa, also located only 4.9 km’s from the main Mine on Phalaborwa, PMC (Phalaborwa Copper mine) and about 9.2 km are from Foskor Mine.
It is perfectly situated to accommodate both contractors that stay long term and short term for the mines, but also perfect to accommodate all types of holidaymakers and tourists. With an amazing Restaurant on-site, that can seat more than 50 people, it can accommodate all meals & beverages requirements that most contractors require, ranging from breakfast to lunch packs, dinners, etc. With a special liquor license on-site, they even have their own bar, to accommodate all guests' “thirsts” and are allowed to sell liquor on-premises only for their guests even on holidays & weekends.
The Lodge is set up almost like a resort, consisting of 2 prime property stands next to each other, making up an incredible size of 3000 Square metres, with 2 huge parking spaces, a resort swimming pool for guests, and 15 rooms ready to operate on a daily basis. Both properties have electric gates.
Present Situation
The Guest House is a thriving business, located just outside of the main mines of Phalaborwa and the Kruger National Park Gate, the prime tourist destination. They offer all sorts of accommodation for guests, long or short term, and provide all meals & beverages too. The business averages around R160 000 to R260 000 average turnover per month, without the restaurant & bar. The lodge has earned itself over the years of trading a very good reputation among a lot of contractors. It has a huge advantage of having an in-house restaurant and bar with a very good potential for a new revenue of income which the previous owners have never tapped into.
It’s been a wonderful and profitable experience. But now the owners are getting ready to retire abroad. So this Guest House, with all its assets and valuable business name, is up for sale.
The business has always been a money-maker. The Guest House has the potential to expand its clients and its market The current owner was not utilizing any online marketing, not even having a website, this just shows the potential that the business still has to expand a whole new world of online clients and revenue. The asking price includes the entire Guest House, 15 rooms, restaurant & bar, all stock, equipment, and furnished. Linen, bedding, all restaurant, and kitchen equipment included.
THIS IS PRICED TO GO FOR A BARGAIN PRICE! YOU WILL NEVER FIND A 4 STAR RATED GUEST HOUSE THIS SIZE, AND IN THIS CONDITION AGAIN AT THIS PRICE!
