General
The white sand beach of the island was left untouched in its natural ways. Anyone coming to spend time at the resort have the opportunity to experience a true Maldivian natural island. The beach extent complements the lagoon and its nature. It houses million beautiful species. This island has been developed with a lot of respect for the natural extents & environment
The island resort, is rich by its nature and is surrounded by soulful vegetation. This is the only island of dhoores which show cases House reef, Corals, lagoons along with remarkable vegetation on the island. The phenomenal lush vegetation and all its special features has made the only “Nature Discovery Island Resort” in the world.
The concept used in Nature’s Paradise was developed to bring back the original resort concept that was the trademark of tourism industry when it started in the 70’s. Tourism started in the early 70’s and back then, resort islands were very basic. Construction materials were simple and reliance on coconut timber and other locally available materials were plenty.
Rooms were built using corals; thatched roofs were the norm and other structures like the restaurant, bar and jetties were made with coconut timber or other locally available wood. Most public areas had sandy floors. There were no branded hotel chains with multi-million dollar rooms or facilities, and rooms did not have expensive tiles.
Most parts of the island environment were untouched and left in its natural ways. These concepts were the basic building blocks of the tourism industry. Back then, anyone coming to spend time at a resort had the opportunity to experience a true Maldivian natural island. Back then, the islands were developed with the minimal required services and facilities. Thus, holidaymakers were able to enjoy a true island experience.
As tourism developed, the 80’s and 90’s were seen as the era of transformation as more facilities were developed. With the arrival of international brands, the standard of hotels started to completely change, and the Nature’s concepts were lost. Islands were developed as expensive hotel brands, and there was little regard and respect to the natural beauty of islands.
Set in the midst of the lush vegetation, not far from the beach and the main arrival jetty is the restaurant, which features contemporary Maldivian architecture, with the use of sustainable resources in its architectural design. Coconut and other local timber derived from the island has been the primary focus which serve cuisines from all over the world.
The restaurant is very close to the eastern beach, which is a large sandy area that dance like a fish tail from season to season. Here you can either have your meals indoors or on the deck or on this beautiful beach overlooking the island The bar connects blends with the surrounding environment with its open corridors all around. Available in the bar is a rich collection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to suit everyone. From the bar counter to the furniture and lighting, everything has been handmade with local materials to reflect the true beauty of Maldivian architecture, which made the first resorts opened in the Maldives so unique.
